Birthdays, Boston, and the Bills

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAVID!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IAN!

Laurel:

Last week we went to Crane Beach- a gorgeous beach with dunes and waving grass (very CA like). But…the water was like ICE. We ventured in up to our ankles but could not bear to go in any further (very un-CA like).

We also recently traveled into Boston and walked the Freedom Trail- a 3 mile trail through the city (follow the red brick road!) where you can see a bunch of historic sites and see the city at the same time. We saw the famous Park Street church (under construction), The Paul Revere House, the burial sites of multiple famous people and the Bunker Hill monument (among other things).

This week we are highly anticipating a visit from the Moran family!!

I am still really enjoying my job at the bank. Georgetown Savings Bank throws a great party. Thus far we have had three.

And to honor the Division winning Red Sox (!!!!), all three branches are in the midst of an intense Red Sox trivia game. The winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the Red Sox party luncheon held on Thursday (party #4).

Customer Quirks:

Names are not real- partly to respect privacy, largely because I do not know their names yet.

Fred- the former prize fighter who formerly won the Golden Gloves.

Megan- the he-woman who has massive arms and talks about crushing her male competition in the weight room. She happens to have a crush on Joe- another bank customer…causing her to get very giddy when they happen to be in the bank at the same time.

Bob- the man who is trying to convert all of my co-workers to Christianity- sadly, his loud and rather obnoxious methods turn them off more than anything. But to give him credit, his words have provoked other meaningful conversations about who Jesus really is and what He’s all about.

James (Bob’s father)- the walking joke machine. His transaction might take 1 minute, but he’ll be in the bank for 20+ minutes telling us jokes.

John- the young construction worker who recently asked for 2 dog biscuits. He proceeded to eat the dog biscuits- alternating his chomps with licks on a raspberry blue lollipop. After sticking out his tongue to show us the dog biscuit residue (and causing a minor ruckus in the bank), he asked my co-worker for her number. …needless to say, he was turned down.

Congrats to the Buffalo Bills for winning their first game! Watch out J.P- here comes Trent Edwards!

So uh, how about those Bills, huh? I tried really hard to not watch, but I caved...and watched...and cried.

Anyway, I miss you guys. I wish the Bills were capable of winning a football game. :-p
Hope you're great!
